The Legion of Mary was founded in this parish with the prime objective of mobilizing practicing Catholics to reach out and reclaim lapsed souls—doing so at their own convenient time, driven by devotion and love for the Church.
As time went on, the mission of the Legion expanded. It took on an additional responsibility: to support and guide young catechumens, offering them simple but solid certainties of faith. These foundational teachings were aimed at helping them seek to know, love, and serve the Lord more deeply.
In 1958, a significant milestone was achieved when Mr. Asedu, a dedicated bookshop keeper from the Ashanti Region, formally introduced the Legion of Mary to the Church. With zeal and commitment, he recruited a group of energetic men and women to form the first praesidium, establishing leadership roles to guide the group.
