Christian Mother's Association

Brief Information

The Association was founded in the year 1974 by Rev. Fr. peter Willenberg the then Parish Priest Of ST. Paul Catholic Church Techiman it started with ten women, Who elected their executives. The group was to develop the women  spiritually, morally, physically, economically and society.
The first president was Mrs. Sefa Margaret, secretary was Mary Donkor, Vice president Marv Gyamfi, Amannor Elizabeth, treasure, Mrs. Florence Okrah Ceceilia Anane, Mary Odoom, Margaret Aguzey and Martha Kuma all of the blessed memory respectively.

These women were all communicants because the initial conditions to be a member is to be  communicant. They worked together and started their meeting days on Wednesdays every week to discuss issues of the women role in the church how to contribute to help themselves in times of need, how to bring food stuff for offertory to church for the priest, conflict resolution, taking care for the old, poor and needy in and outside the church, visitation and outreach programs was their hallmark. The Association had its head office in Accra so the constitution was done and brought to the local groups.

After the establishment of the Techiman group they had voluntary organizer who out with some of the executives to promote the Association and get now members. Florence Badu was the first organizer who worked hard to get more groups in the Techiman Municipality and other Districts, like Nkoranza, Kintampo, Atebubu, Kwame Danso Prang, Amantin, Jema, New Longoro and many others. The association was well organized and hardworking who have their own products and as such helped their families and payments of church levies.

In going forward the number increased, elections are held every three years as the constitution demand the first Diocesan president. She also had the opportunity to lead the Association for four years during her tenure of office, she and her executives acquired a land to put up a purpose center for the young girls. The Diocese have bought a land Of 2½ acres at Hansua under development. Same groups in the Association had products like gari processing machines at Asueyi which was the first project for the Diocese from the head office.

Akrofrom also had gari processing machine from Techiman serve. The work load was too much for one organizer so the Association had a second organizer for the Techiman parish in 1986. She was in the person of Gladys Serwaa Adusah who helped to get more projects as well as a day care center at Techiman and groundnut processing machine at Ayorya. After the tenure of Office of mother Mary Yeboah, then came mother Rose Kasim as the Diocesan President, 2012-2019.

Our current president is mother Marv Magdalene Taaere, 2019-2023 who took over from mother Rose Kasim, the new executives elect with help from the organizer have moulded blocks about 1500 for the building Of the multipurpose center. We were blessed with the following Rev. Frs as our spiritual directors Fr. Alphonse Amanor as our 1st Spiritual father, then followed by Rev. Fr. Aduse Poku, Rev. Fr. Boakye Gyan, Fr. George Yeboa Nyarko, Fr. Emmanuel Baffoe and the current spiritual director is Rev. Martin Ninsalla young but dynamic hardworking for the Diocese tirelessly. We have members throughout all the parishes and Deaneries within the Diocese,

Mother Martha Kuma of blessed memory was the first patron but still remembered of her term of office, she supported the organizers with her own money to go to the out stations for outreach programs and initiated them. The current patron for the Diocese is mother Florence Okrah popularly known as Abena Manu.
